Peter Miles is the regional manager of the VPMEP office in Richmond . There he oversees the region's service delivery, training and development of project managers. Peter brings nearly twenty years of manufacturing experience to his current position. Prior to joining VPMEP, he was an independent manufacturing consultant assisting several small and mid-sized companies in capacity and capability expansion projects. He has considerable experience in Lean manufacturing deployment, is a practiced Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, and has led major capital project investment teams. Peter's past experiences started him at Engelhard Corporation's Specialty Metals Division, where he provided technical support and customer liaison responsibility for manufacturing departments in the U.K. and the U.S. American Superconductor Corporation then recruited him in 1991, where he held progressively responsible management positions for manufacturing and engineering in the world's foremost high temperature superconducting business, serving the electric power industry. Peter earned his B. Sc. Metallurgy (First Class Honors) from Brunel University , England . He continues to advance his knowledge base through additional courses and seminars in QA, SPC, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing.
